When Spring Meets Magic: Slagharen Opens the Season with the Magic Spring Festival

Spring has arrived in the Wild West town of Slagharen.

On March 28, Slagharen opens its gates for a new season. The event is more than a date on the calendar.

It is a world coming back to life.

And this year, the story begins with magic.

Following the success of its debut last year, the Magic Spring Festival returns for its second edition. Through illusion, live performances, and beloved characters, the festival transforms Slagharen into a vibrant frontier town where surprises appear around every corner.

Because at Slagharen, the experience is never just about the rides.

It is about stepping into a world.

“Entertainment plays a central role in how we create memorable experiences for our guests,” says Sander de Haas, General Manager of Slagharen. “The Magic Spring Festival allows us to combine storytelling, characters and live performance to bring the park’s Wild West world to life in a unique way at the start of the season.”

A Town Waking Up After Winter

After the quiet of winter, the Wild West town awakens.

Music drifts from the saloon. Colorful decorations brighten the wooden streets. Performers and characters return to the town square, ready to welcome the first families of the season.

Guests stepping through the gates are not simply entering an attraction park. They are stepping into a living setting where spring feels like a celebration.

Street entertainment fills the town. Shows bring laughter to the theaters. Unexpected encounters unfold between guests and characters.

At the heart of it all is something every theme park visitor, child or adult, instantly recognizes: a sense of wonder.

From spectacular magic performances to playful family shows with Randy and Rosie, the festival invites visitors to explore, discover and create their first unforgettable memories of the year.

Magic Around Every Corner

At Slagharen, the stage is not limited to a theater.

During the Magic Spring Festival, the streets themselves become part of the show.

Visitors wandering through the Wild West town may suddenly find themselves drawn into a crowd gathered around magician Joost, one of the festival’s most recognizable performers.

Taking on the role of a wandering frontier trader, Joost delights audiences with clever sleight-of-hand and playful illusions that leave children wide-eyed and adults leaning in closer.

Moments like these capture something essential about the Slagharen experience.

Street entertainment does more than fill time between rides: it brings the world of the park to life.

Characters like Mayor Bright, the mischievous Red Bandits, and fan favorites Randy and Rosie interact directly with guests, transforming a simple stroll through the park into a living story.

Every corner holds the possibility of a surprise.

And every visit feels a little different.

A New Spectacle Takes the Stage

While magic appears throughout the streets, some of the festival’s biggest moments unfold under the lights of the American Circus Theater.

This year, Slagharen introduces an exciting new act: Angels Inc.

Founded by illusionist and world champion Sittah Koene, the internationally acclaimed group combines choreography, visual storytelling and breathtaking illusions in a show that feels both contemporary and theatrical.

Five performers take the stage in a performance that blends dance, magic and striking visual effects into a dynamic spectacle for guests of all ages.

For many visitors, it will be their first encounter with Angels Inc. and one of the highlights of the festival.

Thrills in the Sky

While magic fills the streets and theaters, the season will also introduce something entirely new to the Slagharen skyline.

Rising 30 meters above the Wild West landscape, the park’s newest attraction, Sky Sifter, prepares to welcome its first riders on April 17.

What makes Sky Sifter unique is its dual-experience concept.

Guests can choose their level of adventure: the thrilling Gold route, featuring full inversions, or the more family-friendly Silver route, offering a swinging experience with sweeping views of the park.

For Sander de Haas, the attraction represents the park’s continued evolution.

“Sky Sifter combines innovation, storytelling, and guest choice in a way that fits perfectly with Slagharen’s Wild West identity,” he explains. “Together with the Magic Spring Festival, it allows us to start the season with energy, creativity and something new for our guests to discover.”

The Parques Reunidos Difference

What makes the start of the season at Slagharen particularly special is how entertainment and attractions work together to create a complete experience.

Thrill rides deliver excitement. Live shows add emotion and connection. Characters and street performances bring storytelling into every corner of the park.

Together, they create something more than a day out.

They create a world guests can step into.

Across its parks, Parques Reunidos designs experiences where attractions, storytelling, and live entertainment work together to create unforgettable memories.

Because the most memorable moments are not simply experienced.

They are carefully created.

A Season Begins

The Magic Spring Festival will run from March 28 to June 14, taking place every weekend as well as during Easter and the May holiday period. Guests staying overnight will be welcomed even earlier, with Slagharen’s accommodations opening on March 27.

But the true beginning of the season will not be marked by a date.

It will be marked by moments.

A magician revealing an impossible trick.
A child dancing with Randy and Rosie.
The laughter of a family watching the Red Bandits parade through town.
The first riders soaring into the sky on Sky Sifter.

Because sometimes all it takes is a little spring sunshine, a Wild West town waking up after winter, and a touch of magic in the air to remind us why theme parks remain places where stories truly come alive.
