Halloween: A Season of Its Own | Mirabilandia

Madrid, October 9 2026 - What if the Halloween experience you start in the afternoon is completely unrecognizable by nightfall?

At Mirabilandia, in Italy, that contrast is at the heart of Halloween. Families can spend the day surrounded by colorful characters, shows and activities, but as the sun goes down, the atmosphere changes. Horror tunnels open their doors, more than 100 creatures emerge and Suburbia – a 30,000 sqm horror area – comes to life.

And in 2026, the park is taking that transformation even further, with new experiences including Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin and the first-ever Scary Night.

Francesco Bertozzi, Sales & Marketing Director at Mirabilandia, takes us behind the scenes to reveal what guests can expect from Halloween at the park this year.

What makes Halloween at Mirabilandia different from anywhere else?

I think what makes Halloween at Mirabilandia special is the fact that two completely different worlds can coexist in the same park.

On one side, there is a colorful and fun Halloween experience for families, with Nickelodeon Land, shows and activities for children. On the other, once the sun goes down, the atmosphere changes completely with our horror tunnels and especially Suburbia, the largest horror area in an Italian amusement park, covering more than 30,000 sqm and populated by over 100 creatures.

That contrast is what makes Halloween at Mirabilandia so distinctive: during the same day, you can meet SpongeBob with your children and, a few hours later, find yourself running through the streets of an infested city.

If you could recommend just one Halloween experience that guests absolutely shouldn’t miss this year, what would it be – and why?

Without a doubt, Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin, one of the major new experiences for Halloween 2026.

It is the largest and longest horror house ever created at Mirabilandia: 350 sqm, 16 immersive environments and more than 10 minutes of experience.

It is not simply something you walk through. The tension builds room after room and, once you get out, it is definitely one of those experiences you keep talking about with your friends.

What are you introducing or doing differently for Halloween 2026?

This year, we have worked to make Halloween even more immersive and to further expand our horror offering.

The main novelty is Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin; Suburbia is growing with a new scare zone, Ossarium; and we have also renewed our show program.

But one of the biggest new features is Scary Night on October 30, which we are introducing for the first time at Mirabilandia: a special night entirely dedicated to horror, with the park open until 1:00 a.m.

More than simply adding individual attractions, in 2026 we wanted to make Halloween a more complete experience, with new content and new ways to enjoy the park.

Halloween takes months of work behind the scenes. What might surprise our guests about what it takes to transform the park for the season?

Probably the scale of the work behind it.

Suburbia alone involves more than 100 characters and creatures. But before guests ever meet them, there are months of work behind the scenes: developing stories, building sets, creating costumes, make-up and effects, rehearsing performances and training the artists.

Halloween is not simply about adding a few pumpkins around the park. It means creating an entirely different world, involving creative, technical, artistic, operational, and marketing teams.

The best part is that all this work remains invisible until the moment we open the gates and guests step into that world.

Complete the sentence: “You haven’t really experienced Halloween at Mirabilandia until you have…”

…walked through Suburbia after dark and started looking over your shoulder even when you were sure you were safe.
